14. AGRA: AKBARABAD

Welcome to my travel blog about Agra, one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Agra is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the iconic Taj Mahal. But there is more to Agra than just the Taj Mahal, so let's explore this beautiful city together!

DAY 1:

We arrived in Agra in the morning and checked into our hotel, which was conveniently located near the Taj Mahal. After freshening up, we headed straight to the Taj Mahal, which is undoubtedly the main attraction in Agra. We were blown away by its beauty, and it's hard to put into words just how magnificent it is. We spent several hours exploring the different sections of the Taj Mahal and admiring its intricate carvings and designs. In the evening, we headed to the Agra Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort was built in the 16th century and has a rich history, with many Mughal emperors having resided here over the years.

DAY 2:

We started our second day by visiting the Itimad-ud-Daulah, also known as the Baby Taj. This beautiful mausoleum is located on the banks of the Yamuna River and is often referred to as a draft of the Taj Mahal. It is smaller in size but still stunning in its own right, with intricate carvings and a peaceful atmosphere. Next, we headed to the Mehtab Bagh, which is a beautiful garden located across the river from the Taj Mahal. It offers a perfect view of the Taj Mahal during sunrise and sunset, and we were lucky enough to catch the sunrise view. In the afternoon, we visited the Akbar's Tomb, another magnificent mausoleum built for the Mughal emperor Akbar. The tomb is a beautiful blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles.

DAY 3:

On our last day in Agra, we visited the Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted city located about an hour's drive from Agra. The city was built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century and served as his capital for several years before being abandoned due to water scarcity. The city has been beautifully preserved and offers a glimpse into the Mughal era with its magnificent buildings, palaces, and mosques. We spent the entire day exploring the city and learning about its history.

Overall, our trip to Agra was a memorable one. The city has a rich history and culture, and its iconic monuments are simply breathtaking. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. If you're planning a trip to India, Agra should definitely be on your list of must-visit destinations!
